SEMINARS, ROUND TABLES, CONFERENCES - 1996, international seminar on "Civil-Military Relation in a Democratic Society", with the participation of NATO representatives and 14 representatives of seven Central European countries (with the assistance of NATO HQ Press and Information Office); - 1996, round table on "NATO Enlargement Process", with the participation of Gheorghe Tinca, defense minister; Daniel Nelson, Old Dominion University, USA; Douglas Menarchik, George Marshall Center, Germany; Trevor Waters, Royal Military Academy, UK; - 1996, exchange event on the theme: "Civil Control Over the Armed Forces - Basic Principle of the Rule of Law and a Requirement of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration", with the participation of senior officials in the former and in the present government; - 1997, round table on the topic "Romania and NATO Enlargement after the US - Russian Meeting in Helsinki", with the participation of senior officials and experts discussing Romania's situation and the Alliance's expansion against the background of ideas arising after the meeting of presidents Bill Clinton and Boris Yeltin in Helsinki; - 1996, seminars on topics of interest related to "Romania and Euro-Atlantic Integration", organized in other towns in the country too, like in Tîrgu Mures and Cluj-Napoca; - 1997, seminar on the topic: "Geopolitics - historical interference", together with the Group for Geopolitics in Germany, the EURISC Foundation and the Military History Review; - 1997, seminar: "Romania - NATO, together by force of destiny", with a large participation, among which defense attaches and diplomats; - 1997, reflection group meeting on the subject: "Has Romania an Eastern Policy?", with the purpose of identifying ways of making Russia understand Romania's objective to join NATO; participants were politicians, diplomats, analysts, military experts and scholars; - 1998, round table on the topic: "US Geopolitical Interests in Central and Eastern Europe"; on that occasion, the Romanian-American Center for Euro-Atlantic Studies was initiated; with the assistance of Mr. Seth Cropsey from the "George C. Marshall" Center for European Security Studies as well as of diplomats from the US Embassy in Bucharest; - 1997, after the US decision to endorse NATO enlargement with only three nations, made public prior to Sintra summit (Portugal), we organized a round table on the theme: "Romania-NATO, continued actions pursued with a view to integration"; participants were state officials, members of parliament, analysts; -1997 conference on the subject: "Romania-NATO after the Madrid Summit", with the participation of Mr. Jeffry Simon from the Institute for National Strategic Studies and Stephan Larrabee from RAND Corporation; - 1998, seminar on: "Intelligence Services in a Democratic Society"; participants included politicians, media representatives, academics, students, experts in intelligence issues; - we participated as co-organizers in 1997 International Research Seminar on Euro-Atlantic Security on the topic:' Consequences of the Madrid Summit on Security and Stability in Europe', together with NATO Defense College, Rome 4-6 dec. 1997; - 1998 seminar on : Security in South - Eastern Europe together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Romanian Institute for International Relations, Bucharest 27-28 April 1998; - conference on the subject : 'Romania and NATO on American prospective ' with the participation of H.E. Mr. James C. Rosapepe, U.S. Ambassador in Bucharest, 26 May 1998: - conference on the subject: ,,Russian perspectives on European Security", 21 Iune,1998" - international the 26 th Annual Conference of SCAO, 18-21February,1999; - round table on the subject: ,,European security and Balkan crises", April 1999; - round table on the subject: ,,Romania after Washington Summit. Present and perspectives", May 6 th, 1999; - project partners with University of Aberdeen, UK, on ,,Security in Bleak Sea Area", 1998-1999. - 24-25 September 1999, the International Conference "Reconstruction and Integration of South Eastern European Countries after the Kosovo Crisis", with the support of NATO HQ in Brussels. It should be stress that the activities conducted by our Association were attended by members of the Parliament, ministers, state secretaries, senior advisors, analysts, academics, military officials, representatives of NGOs and international press agencies.
